Day 12: Atapuerca to Burgos 20 km ish

After a big day yesterday we were feeling a bit tired today as we walked through the fog on our way to Burgos.

Last night we stayed in an extremely old pension.

The food was lovely but the room was so dusty we stripped the beds down to sheets and slept in our sleeping bags.

We skimped on breakfast knowing that Burgos offered not one but two vegetarian restaurants….

Only they were both closed.

Michael and I walked around for ages looking for something other than Tortilla!

We ended up eating at an “American food” chain called Foster’s which actually had yummy though $$$$ veggie options.

The outskirts of Burgos were poor and startlingly so. We’d walk past buildings we thought inhabitable and then realised people live there.

The inner city (old city) is breathtaking.

We feel like we’re investing in Spain by being here.

When you walk through the smaller towns you can tell how much they appreciate the pilgrim dollar.

Tomorrow: Hornillos 20 km
